Integrated modeling framework for sustainable agricultural intensification

چکیده
Agricultural scientists are pursuing sustainable intensification strategies to increase global food availability, but integration from research impact at the local-level requires knowledge of demographic and human-environment enhance adaptive capacity farmers cultivating <10 ha. Enhancing close collaboration among transdisciplinary teams these smallholders is critical co-elaborate policy solutions ongoing security crises that likely be attuned with local conditions. Human socio-cultural aspects need considered facilitate both adoption dissemination adapted management practices. Despite this well-known co-produce in human systems, we demonstrate inequality current agricultural smallholder farming systems heavy focus on a few domains framework (SIAF), ultimately reducing overall interventions due lack compatibility prevailing social contexts. Here propose integrate agriculture agronomic models modeling approaches productivity system resilience, while addressing persistent issues security. Researchers should consider scale interventions, ensure attention paid equality political processes, explore change interactions, improve connection nutrition health outcomes, via nutrition-sensitive investments.

Exploitation of endophytes for sustainable agricultural intensification
Intensive agriculture, which depends on unsustainable levels of agrochemical inputs, is environmentally harmful, and the expansion of these practices to meet future needs is not economically feasible. Other options should be considered to meet the global food security challenge. The plant microbiome has been linked to improved plant productivity and, in this microreview, we consider the endosph...
متن کاملINVITED REVIEW Sustainable intensification in agricultural systems
†Background Agricultural systems are amended ecosystems with a variety of properties. Modern agroecosystems have tended towards high through-flow systems, with energy supplied by fossil fuels directed out of the system (either deliberately for harvests or accidentally through side effects). In the coming decades, resource constraints over water, soil, biodiversity and land will affect agricultu...

The field of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) has emerged with the spirit of providing ‘Data as a Service’ to overcome the technical and conceptual barriers in sharing spatial data. In integrated environmental modeling, software components like the GIS, the spatial DBMS, expert rules and analysis tools, and even the associated computational models, are re-used and combined into an environmenta...
متن کاملAn integrated framework for sustainable development goals
The United Nations (UN) Rio+20 summit committed nations to develop a set of universal sustainable development goals (SDGs) to build on the millennium development goals (MDGs) set to expire in 2015. Research now indicates that humanity’s impact on Earth’s life support system is so great that further global environmental change risks undermining long-term prosperity and poverty eradication goals....
